Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
