More than 36,000 people have fled Sudan's Kordofan territory eastern sector of Darfur since Saturday, as stated by the UN's migration organization.

The key central region separating the country's Darfur provinces and the Khartoum-Riverine region has in recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the two-year civil war between the Sudanese military forces and the militia group.

Massive Displacement Numbers

An estimated 36,825 people evacuated from five districts in North Kordofan region between 26 October and 31 October, per data from the International Organization for Migration.

The people, mainly traveling by foot, moved toward Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering over 652,000 displaced people.

Heightened Forces Deployment

Citizens of North Kordofan on Monday described a heavy surge in both RSF and army deployment across towns and villages throughout the state.

Both forces are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a critical supply and command hub that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have gathered at the Bara front here," said an RSF member in a recently shared video declaration.

Area Citizens Describe Safety Fears

A resident of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the amount of RSF vehicles had risen significantly since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We discontinued traveling to our farms, afraid of confrontations," the individual commented.

Another resident, who asked to remain unnamed for protection purposes, also reported that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

International Concerns and Calls

A senior UN official sounded warnings last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The representative alerted to patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been charged with mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The religious leader on Sunday appealed for an prompt truce and the establishment of humanitarian corridors in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and hindrances to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday alleged RSF of committing war crimes in El Fasher and declared that the Sudanese government would not engage with the militia organization.

The diplomat further urged the global community to designate the group as a terrorist group.
