New Details Emerge Regarding the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains

Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence home on Sunday.

A Discovery

As detailed in an account quoting a family associate, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the residence. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

Upon entering the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and denied bail.

Disputed Reports

The anonymous source questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.

The source also refuted circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to descriptions of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
