Tottenham Boss Frank Calls Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Tension on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be real Spurs fans" by manager Frank.

Spurs let in two scores in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.

But the main talking point was Fulham's next score when the keeper gave away possession far beyond his area.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball went to the keeper again, some Spurs supporters jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

One of those jeering episodes truly angered Frank.

"I heard some of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and jeered after, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright jeering after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are with one another moving ahead."

Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second period performance.

Former top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the second score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly understand the fans' disappointment," Hart continued. "I am aware the role Vicario is playing. He is a excellent squad member, he's a real leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what turned out to be the winning score."

'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italian international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

He stated after the match that he had to accept the criticism.

"The second score was a error of mine, I take accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger mountain to overcome."

He said being booed "is part of football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to remain increasingly composed, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in calmness and poise to reverse results. Today is a bad defeat and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second most distant top division goal of the campaign – following Adams' forty-three point three yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally also came on the same day.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his area and the midfielder shooting – which was five seconds after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for ages," Wilson said.

"It amazed me not one of the back four returned to the line. When not one of them covered the goal, my interest lit up a bit.

"Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a bit of extra opportunity. Then it was solely about attempting to make the correct contact and get it on target. I had a good feeling, the moment it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Work Against You'

Booing While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager

While Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall poor performance for Spurs to continue their home struggles.

This was their tenth at home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint club record matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

The side still have home games against the manager's old side the Bees and title holders Liverpool to come prior to the close of the season.

Only one of those victories have come after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," said Frank.

"During in a poor run, everything seems to go against you as well – the first was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic.

"This result puts us in a place where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can use to develop."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their poorest averages on record in a one campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the stick," Murphy said. "He has accepted a high profile job at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
